Cause Of Hair Loss In Women

Today in the United States alone, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, around 30 million women are now affected by the problem of hair loss. Although it is common in older women, especially when they reach menopause, it is also being seen in a large numbers of younger women as well. In this article, we will take a look at some of the causes of hair loss in women today.

The main causes of hair loss in women are related to the same factors as hair loss in men. Similar to men, women may lose hair because of age, genetics, or they may have a problem related to hormone levels. Along with these, there are other factors that can cause hair loss in women.

However, in this article we will be going over a few of the medical causes for hair loss in women today. You will find that as long as the proper diagnosis is provided by a doctor or dermatologist, you should be able to treat your hair loss.

1. Polycystic ovary syndrome is a problem related to hormones and can cause hair loss. It is not uncommon for a doctor to diagnose this particular health issue when a woman is suffering from hair loss, as this is one of the indicators.

2. Another Cause of hair loss in women may be related to a treatment that they are receiving for an autoimmune disorder. In a case like this the hair loss may be quite sever and the hair may come out in large patches or clumps.

3. There is another medical condition that can cause hair loss in women and that is Telogen Effluvium. This type of hair loss may occur after an event in a women's life alters there hormone levels. Some events that may lead to this are child birth, using a crash diet, surgery, or it could even be something traumatic that has happened.

It is important to note that before you undergo any type of treatment, so that you do not cause the problem to become worse, a doctor should be consulted to find the underlying cause of the hair loss. It is vital to find the primary cause of the hair loss, as such a doctor may need to carry out a few tests to determine this.

Above we have gone over only a few of the causes of hair loss in women, this does not mean that you will suffer from any of these. If you do happen to have excessive hair loss you should seek medical advice to determine the cause. You should note that some hair loss is natural and part of the aging process.
